Domestic Violence Increases in the Summer Months
The end of the school year is a welcomed time for the amazing educators in our community, but unfortunately, instances of domestic violence increase during these summer months. This is due to a myriad of reasons, including
- Increased stress due to children being around more frequently
- Hot summer temperatures also lead to an increase of violence in the home
- More family summer parties (which sometimes involve alcohol) can also increase instances of abuse
During this time, we should be vigilant in ensuring that the families and children in our lives are free from abuse. If your group or organization wants any training in recognizing the signs of domestic violence, please contact our Administrative office at 770.479.1804.
If you are a victim of domestic violence, or know someone who is, please contact our 24-hour crisis hotline at 1.800.33.HAVEN (42836). We have advocates who can help you safety plan if you are in a dangerous situation.
