CFVC is Looking for New Volunteers
The Cherokee Family Violence Center (CFVC) in Canton, GA is currently looking for volunteers to help out with our Children’s Support Group.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAM ASSISTANT
DESCRIPTION:
The Children’s Program Assistant works with shelter residents to provide child care, to assist children with homework, and to lead recreational activities so that the lives of the children from battered families are enriched by providing communications and positive interaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Child Advocate with program activities
- Assist children with homework
- Assist in discussions on anger, violence, feelings, etc.
- Baby sit when needed
- Supervise children during structured activities
SKILLS/TRAITS NEEDED:
- Ability to work with a diverse group of children and their parents
- Ability to set boundaries with children
- Listening skills
- Patience
- Creativity
- Compassion
- Observant
- Energetic
- Consistent (a minimum of a six-month commitment is requested)
- Availability on Tuesday evenings from 6:30PM-9:00PM
- A criminal background check
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
