Are you Ready for the Poker Run?

Posted by on Apr 29, 2016 in of Hope |

Poker Run 2Tomorrow is the big day – the Poker Run rolls out of Woodstock starting at 9AM!

We are excited to hear that so many of our supporters are planning to attend.  If you did not make the cutoff for pre-registration, you can sign up for the event onsite.  Vehicles are $20 and the driver’s additional passengers will be $15 each.  You can also purchase an extra hand of poker for $10 if you want to increase your odds of winning the cash prize.  That’s right – the high hand of the day gets a cash prize!

If you have not attended a poker run before, the premise is that you are building a hand of poker as you move along the route.  At each stop along the route, you draw a playing card until you complete your hand of poker. What makes it extra fun is that the riders do not know where they are headed until they progress to the next stop – it is a bit like a scavenger hunt.

Thanks to our sponsor Sheriff Roger Garrison Charities along with our Board of Directors, we have many great door prizes and raffle items including a NASCAR Driving Experience, a YETI cooler (thank you Freedom Powersports!) painting class, jewelry and gift cards.  We will also have tshirts and some memorabilia available for purchase at the ride.

We hope that you will join us at the ride tomorrow and bring a friend or two along for the fun!  Just checkout our information page for additional details: cfvc.org/poker-run

It must be Giving Tuesday because we have been overwhelmed with kindness today at CFVC! We were so happy to receive a truckload full of paper products and personal care items from Molly Maid of Cherokee County, Kennesaw & Acworth. We wanted to take a quick moment and thank not only Molly Maid, but the Molly Maid customers who donated items during their Making a Difference Drive through the Ms. Molly Foundation. Molly Maid customers also pitched in $1,145 to support CFVC’s programs – the largest amount collected in the drive since 2008.

Betty and Greg Flegle are pictured here with a portion of their generous donation, 635 rolls of toilet paper and other personal care items that were collected. Both Betty Flegle and Greg Flegle were previously CFVC Board members. In addition to the Flegles’ service to the clients of CFVC, Molly Maid has donated cleaning services to our office, so we have gotten to know many of their dedicated and friendly staff members as well. We are lucky to count Molly Maid among our most active supporters!
